The public comments by London MEP Sarah Ludford indicating her support for the legal recognition of non gendered people is welcome news. So far as I know this is the first time that a UK politician has publicly expressed such support. I sincerely hope that she will not be the last.
This is a small, but very significant step in the right direction, and there is clearly a long way to go. This much has only been possible due to a great deal of hard work by Christie. Many people owe Christie a debt of gratitude for managing to get to a position where this fundamental human rights issue is being taken seriously. I feel very proud of what my partner has achieved.
Good news as well that Caster Semenya has finally been cleared to resume her career as an athlete.
