I do believe that some of my fellow Londoners are taking the ‘continental lifestyle’ fad a bit too seriously.  Earlier on today we were in Chelsea, and at the Vivienne Westwood end of the Kings Road spotted some people sitting outside a café - in the pouring rain!  With the stiff upper lip neatly in place.  I don’t consider sitting at a table in the open air a particularly enjoyable experience when it’s on the pavement of a busy road, but even if I was so inclined I certainly wouldn’t want to get soaked as well.  What would happen to an expresso?  It would become a rather cold cafe Americano in no time.

LOL! When I lived in London I used to go to cafes with a friend of mine and we both LOVED sitting outside ;) But we did get some wierd looks in the winter. I however do draw the line at sitting outside on a busy high street. I wouldn't want to inhale all those nasty car fumes, it spoils the flavour of my cigarettes ;)

Your'd have to sit outside now as England has joined the smoke free community. Doesn't bother me, but then I am an ex-smoker!
