Phew What a Scorcher!
Body Painting1

Nor surprisingly people across the country are taking advantage of the unusually warm weather for this time of year, and enjoying themselves in the sunshine.  Unfortunately this has brought out the BBC news reporters as well.  There was a one reporter on BBC News 24 who had been despatched to Blackpool.  He did not look too happy beginning his report whilst standing in cold, wet sand with his trousers rolled up (which he actually referred to as mud, which I guess shows how often he’s been to a British beach)  After telling us all how warm it was, he then proceeded to wander around asking people why they were there.  Nothing to do with the meaning of life, but why they had chosen to go to Blackpool and relax on the beach.  I’m not fond of sitting in a deckchair on a beach myself, but I can understand why people do it.  Plus of curse it’s quite common for people across the north west of England to escape to the seaside on a Sunday, as indeed I can remember from my childhood.

The anchor man annoyed me even more when he reported that today the temperature would be ‘twice the average for this time of year’.  Wrong!  The temperature is twice as high above the freezing point of water.  The temperature can obviously be less than 0oC, right down to absolute zero, which if I recall is about -273oC.  Thus twice the average temperature for this time of year, roughly 10oC would be 293oC.  I doubt somehow that it would reach that today, but if it did it would be fairly conclusive evidence of global warming.  Now that would be a news story worthy of reporting.

Anyway enough of this- off to get some fresh air myself.

Oh dear. I'm sure it will warm up eventually!

"Twice the average for this time of year"? Yeah, I'd say that would make for a helluva scorcher!

Absolutely - I'm not quite sure what factor suncream I would need for that!
