I just entered my time sheet for this week.  Since I can’t claim overtime any longer, my hours will always add up to 37.5.  It was something of a surprise when my hours actually added up to 105.  It turned out that I had inadvertently entered 75 hours for Thursday.  Not particularly interesting, but it does reflect the poor quality of user interfaces these days.  Entering silly values was the basic kind of validation that testers would perform as a matter of course, including myself, years ago.

Oddly enough, one of my colleagues did actually, quite a few years ago, raise a live support issue with an earlier version of the time recording system.  He was making an overtime claim, and was complaining that he could not enter more than 24 hours on a particular day.  Maybe there was validation after all, and they removed it just for him.  He must have got an impressive amount of overtime that month.
