Just booked tickets to see Diane Reeves & Ravi Shankar at the Barbican in April and June respectively.  It’s been a while since I saw Diane Reeves in concert, but ages since I saw Ravi Shankar (let’s just say you could express that in terms of decades).  I felt tempted to book tickets for the Siouxsie concert in March as well, but once has to consider the debt burden unfortunately.  Hopefully she’ll be back to the metropolis again in the not too distant future.

I’ve been listening to the Mantaray album quite a lot recently.  To my ears it stands up well in comparison to the earlier work, and I can understand the comparison with P J Harvey & Alison Gordfrapp being made by the music press and so on.  What though has been missed by every single review that I’ve seen is the obvious influence of the wonderful Mina Agossi, especially on Drone Zone.  A great shame, because otherwise it might have led to more people investigating the music of Mina Agossi – highly recommended by me for what it’s worth.
