There was a bit of a scare on Wednesday when dad was taken to hospital, as his body temperature had started to increase.  It’s not surprising that he would get an infection of some kind at this time of year, as the chemo means that he will be prone to infection until the treatment stops.  Fortunately it did not take long to get the infection under control, and he was kept in for a few days just to ensure that his white cell count got back to normal.  He is back out now, and mum has just phoned to say that the next treatment on Thursday will go ahead as scheduled.

On Wednesday I also heard that one of the people that used to work for me had died last year, as a result of cancer.  I knew that she had been ill, but we hadn’t kept in touch after she left the company.  I doubt if I would have travelled up to Leeds for the funeral, but I would have sent a letter of condolence to her husband, who is now left to bring up 3 young kids on his own.  She was a wonderful person, and I really enjoyed working with her.
