I called home yesterday, and dad does not appear to have had any adverse reaction following his first chemo session, although he does get quite tired.  Whilst I was talking to mum I could hear him in the background having a go at somebody.  It turned out that this was a workman who had been sent to do some renovation work in their kitchen, and if dad hadn’t stopped him one of the kitchen cupboards would have been blocked, and of course useless.  I don’t know if this is a peculiarly British trait, but it always seems that plumbers / builders / electricians are pre-programmed to screw things up.  To make matters worse he turned up at lunchtime, just as mum was about to start cooking.  I dare say he got some more grief from mum after I put the phone down.

On another topic, I have just learned that Grace Jones has recorded a new album, which is due for release in the summer.  Apparently Sly and Robbie are on the album, and I’m hoping that this will be on a par with the music from the early 1980s.  I do hope tat there will be some live dates to coincide with the release of the album.  Despite being a fan for many years I have never actually seen Grace Jones live.

I think some plumbers/builders might have the same inclination here in America. Mind you, most of them perform services I don't have the time or patience to do myself. But recently some men were fixing a set of side stairs at our house and they had put them in at an angle so the stairs were effectively running off into the bushes instead of onto the sidewalk. Thankfully they checked with my mom and she politely asked if they could, you know, straighten them so they lined up with the walkway. Why would you leave such a thing in that state?

Glad your dad's treatment seems to be going well. I suppose it's a good sign he's well enough to have a go at the workmen.

Thanks. I'll be a lot more relaxed when dad's finished the course of treatment, but so far so good.
